Emerging tech company Voltai is calling on two-wheeler fleets to transition to electric vehicles (EVs)
Emerging tech player Voltai has officially launched the AP01, a 2-kilowatt (kW) two-wheel Electric Vehicle (EV), alongside the Philippines' first large-scale battery swapping ecosystem, directly targeting business-to-business (B2B) two-wheeler fleets (logistics, delivery, ride-sharing).
Key Value Proposition & Tech Specs:
- Zero Downtime Solution: The core innovation is the battery swapping station, which replaces lengthy charging times with a swift battery exchange process, boosting fleet efficiency.
- Initial Network Deployment: Voltai is piloting its system with 15 established swapping stations through strategic partnerships with fuel retailer Cleanfuel and co-living brand MyTown.
- EV Specs: The AP01 is engineered for Philippine roads, equipped with a 2kW (2.7 hp) electric motor. The dual-battery setup provides a reported 140 km range and a top speed of 80 kph.
- Digital Fleet Management: A proprietary mobile application (Google Maps-supported) allows riders to monitor battery status, location, and performance. Fleet managers gain remote visibility on utilization, trip history, and emission reduction via a web-based system.
User-Centric Business Model:
Voltai employs a fixed-rate leasing model for both the AP01 EV and its batteries. This B2B solution provides a competitive advantage by:
- Eliminating Upfront Capital: Businesses avoid the high initial cost of vehicle acquisition.
- Cost Stabilization: The fixed-rate shields operators from volatile fuel price surges and rising vehicle expenses.
- Operational Savings: Fleets can anticipate significantly lower maintenance and fuel costs while reducing overall emissions.
CEO Perspective:
Fazlur Abdul Rahman, Voltai Co-founder and CEO, framed the launch as the start of a "smarter, cleaner, and more cost-efficient" era for Philippine fleet e-mobility, directly addressing key industry pain points like downtime and maintenance expenses.
Future Outlook:
Voltai plans network expansion across Metro Manila and nearby provinces next year, focusing on strengthening its after-sales support infrastructure to fully address the needs of commercial fleet operators.
Voltai is a startup under 1882 Energy Ventures, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation.
