2022–2024: The Era of Citizen Science Journalism
The early years of GAxD focused on empowering the youth and academic institutions to act as science communicators.
- Gawad Alunig: Recognized the "Best KALIPUNAN Science Youth Correspondents" for high-quality, engaging broadcast reports.
- Gawad Dalumat: Honored school publications that demonstrated excellence in science-themed journalism.
Key Achievements:
- Increased Funding: Contributed to a 25% rise in approved DOST-TAPI funding proposals during its pilot year.

Higher Stakes and Prizes: The 2025 edition offers significantly increased rewards for top storytellers:
- Gawad Alunig (Audio-Visual Category): Up to PHP 75,000 for the Grand Winner.
- Gawad Dalumat (Photo Essay Feature): Up to PHP 60,000 for the Champion.
