O+ USA Fab GO Unboxing, Preview And Initial Impression
O+ USA silently released last week their latest device - the O+ Fab GO, a 6-inch phablet powered by a dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor clocked at 1.3GHz each.
CPU Z Info
If most dual core smartphones has 512MB of RAM, the Fab GO settled for the best, a 1GB of RAM. This means that it can handle relatively more tasks than competitors with half the RAM size. In terms of ROM capacity, it has 4GB plus expandable storage of up to 32GB.
This dual SIM dual standby phone has 5MP auto focus main camera with LED flash and a 2MP secondary camera in the front. The wireless connectivity features include 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth. It runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean plus exclusive O+ software tricks like air shuffle camera, flip to silent and more.
For the unboxing video, please kindly click or watch the embedded YouTube video above. The retail package consists of the unit, battery, flip case (as a freebie) charger, USB cable, wired headset, extra ear buds and manual.
The front holds the capacitive touchscreen panel, below the display are the capacitive keys while above the screen you have the secondary camera, the earpiece grill, LED indicator (color green and red) proximity and light sensors.
The back plate is made of plastic, but it has a rubbery feel which adds to a nice grip. It is also NOT prone to fingerprints or smudges. The main camera is located on the upper left corner accompanied by an LED flash just below it. The camera is a bit embossed, so better avoid resting your phone on its back as it may get scratches. The loud speaker grill is located on the lower portion at the back.
Battery, Micro SD and SIM Slots
When you purchase the Fab GO, the flip case is installed by default, but you can change it to the regular back cover anytime you want. When the cover is removed, you will see the 2500mAh battery, the micro SD and two SIM slots.
The left of the device has nothing on it while the right side has the volume rocker and the power key, both control keys are comfortable to touch.
At the top you will find the micro USB port and the 3.5mm audio jack while the bottom part is bare.
The design is the typical squarish type with rounded corners, the sides are glossy which adds to a nice look. In general, the outside appearance can be classified as more than passable, or shall I say better than good. Handing wise, you can hold it with just one hand, but in terms of phone operations, you would need your two hands.
The O+ Fab GO has a 6-inch screen with FWVGA (854x480) resolution and supports only 2-point touch.
The O+ GO sensors include accelerometer, proximity, light, magnetic and orientation. However, when I put them under test, only the first three are working.

The O+ Fab GO uses the MT6572 chipset with 1GB of RAM, this combination performs quite well in the benchmark applications that we usually used. Actually, it has the highest Vellamo score among all dual core devices that we reviewed so far.
The O+ Fab GO has a 1.3GHz dual core MediaTek MT6572 chipset bundled with 1GB of RAM. Based on our experience, the 512MB of RAM is enough when combined with dual core processor, so we believed that doubling the RAM will give more multitasking ability and smoother operation.
