When we played around with the Y71, we said that the device is obviously a good phone as it offers good display, impressive cameras, and long battery life. But are these things enough to claim the crown for its segment? Well, the Honor 7A has something else to say.
Let’s talk about its display first. Both rivals sport an 18:9 screen, but Vivo’s pick comes with a slightly bigger 6.0-inch panel compared with its opponent’s 5.7-inch display. However, under the hood, the latter bounces back and is able to take the lead, but we have to mention that the two phones are individually geared with a dated chipset. With this, the 7A is packed with 64-bit Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 505 graphics, while the Y71 is still powered by a Snapdragon 425 chip coupled with Adreno 308 GPU.
Meanwhile, both phones are loaded with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 256GB.

Moving on to its camera department, the 7A goes further with its dual-rear camera setup composed of 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors with PDAF and LED flash. It offers a better 8-megapixel front snapper, as well. The Y71 boasts a decent 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel selfie shooter, though.
While we can say that the 7A is already winning on this battle, the Y71 steals the spotlight through its larger 3360mAh battery against the former’s 3000mAh juice. True enough, on our review, the Y71 lasted for almost 12 hours.
To offer more security options, Honor equips the 7A with a fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock technology. Sadly, the Y71 only supports Face Unlock as it lacks a fingerprint scanner.
Both smartphones are running on Android Oreo operating system.
The Honor 7A is priced at Php6,990 while the Y71 (2GB variant) sells for Php6,999.
