And as innovation pushes them to strive further, their rivalry became more than just delivering a good camera performance. Hence, the rivals became hungry for developments as they continued to challenge not just them, but also the other brands.

Let’s talk about its physique first! This year, smartphone brands started to revamp their design by equipping their devices with a trendier look – the fresher, the better. Led by Huawei, the industry welcomed gradient color variants. To keep up with this game, OPPO came up with two color variants: Sunrise Red and Twilight Blue. Different viewing angles would bring flashy color treatment to pair its petal-inspired pattern. In addition, the company recently released a Starry Purple Limited Edition model that features a star-like effect. Meanwhile, the V11 flaunts a simpler design, although it also boasts a gradient design.

Moving on to its display, Vivo got the winning 6.41-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel that comes with a smaller notch dubbed as halo. Still, OPPO was able to pack the F9 with a good 6.3-inch Full HD+ IPS screen. It sports a waterdrop notch, allowing the device to sport a 19.5:9 screen aspect ratio just like the V11.
Under the hood, the F9 is powered by a Helio P60 chipset that has 12nm production process. This is better than the 14nm FinFET of the Snapdragon 660 that is found on the V11. However, the latter has a higher clock frequency and is complemented byAdreno 512 graphics. With these things to consider, we could hardly pick a winner on this segment but we're giving the point anyway to Vivo. Thanks to its processor.
Good thing, similar to the V11, OPPO held on firmly as its device also carries 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB via microSD.

Jumping off to its photography department, the F9 has a slightly better camera set up on the back, at least in terms of resolution, which is composed of 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel f/2.4 sensors. For selfie, the two devices are mounted with 25-megapixel f/2.0 snapper with AI capabilities and screen flash.
For an added protection, both devices are geared with fingerprint sensor and face unlock technology. The twist? Vivo elevated its offering through its in-display fingerprint scanner that is usually found on more expensive handsets, while the F9 comes with a conventional sensor on its rear.
To bounce back, the F9 promises a longer battery life through its bigger 3500mAh juice that supports VOOC Flash Charge. The latter is said to deliver 2 hours of talk time in just 5 minutes of charging. But, don't forget that the V11 also has a so-called dual-engine fast charging technology.
The F9 and V11 load Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2 and Funtouch OS 4.5, respectively.
The OPPO F9 is priced at Php17,990, while the Vivo V9 is tagged with a higher asking price of Php19,999.
