If you’re a fan of Vivo, you are surely rooting for its pioneering In-display Fingerprint Scanner technology. Knowing that this innovation would really cost an arm and leg, the Chinese mobile manufacturer initially made it available through its premium smartphones such as the Vivo NEX line and X21.

However, the brand recently brought this technology to its mid-range segment, making it more affordable for consumers. Hence, the Vivo V11 was introduced to allow them to step up their offerings against its competitors.

Let’s dig deeper and see our initial impressions!

PACKAGING:

Vivo V11 Unboxing and Hands-on

Similar to other Vivo devices, the V11 comes in a familiar white box that is printed with its render. The box also teases its key selling point, as it boasts a text saying “In-Display Fingerprint Scanning.” Inside, you’d see the handset, earphones, Micro USB, Charger, protective case, SIM ejector tool, and its manual.

PHYSICAL:

Its front flashes a 6.41-inch panel with a Full HD+ screen. Obviously, it now comes with a smaller notch dubbed as “Halo.” Although the phone won’t allow you to hide its notch, you still have a choice to display your apps in their default ratio instead of having it displayed in full-screen.

Surely, this move was designed to achieve Vivo’s goal in giving consumers a real bezel-less experience. In addition, the V11 comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner that eliminates the space usually occupied by a conventional fingerprint sensor.

Going back to its display, we’re impressed that it boasts a Full HD+ Super AMOLED screen that gives off a punchy 2340 x 1080 display. We’re set to use it for our multimedia and gaming experience to see if we’re really going to enjoy it as our daily driver.

All of its keys are placed somewhere we could easily reach it, as well. To mention these, its volume rocker and power/lock button are located near the middle portion of its right cheek. Its left side, on the other hand, accommodates its triple card tray that can house two nano SIM cards and a MicroSD card. With this, you can expand its storage without having to sacrifice its SIM 2 slot.

On the back, its protruding dual rear cameras and LED flash are aligned vertically. It also flaunts the company’s branding. Meanwhile, its bottom part welcomes its 3.5mm audio jack, MicroUSB port, and its speaker grilles.

CAMERA:

Moving on to its photography department, it is banked by 12-megapixel f/1.8 + 5-megapixel f/2.4 dual rear cameras, and 25-megapixel selfie snapper.

So far, it can capture great images as it also offers various camera features that can elevate our mobile photography.

INITIAL IMPRESSION:

Coming from the V9, the Vivo V11 is now dressed with a more premium-like design through its classy gradient color treatment. Compared to other brands, Vivo made sure to keep its simplicity, enabling the device to complement any type of users. It comes with two variants: the Starry Night and Nebula.

Its glossy body disguises as a glass, too, which makes it more sophisticated. However, it can easily attract fingerprints. Good thing, Vivo provided a clear case to protect it against smudges, while still allowing us to showcase its design.

Under the hood, it carries a Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with Adreno 512 graphics. The device is also coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The latter is expandable up to 256GB via MicroSD card. It is equipped with 3400mAh battery with Dual-Engine Fast Charge, too. Considering all these things, we expect that it could give us a decent gaming experience, and it could accompany us on our heavy mobile tasks.

INITIAL VERDICT:

The Vivo V11 is packed with features that could challenge other smartphones on its segment. We’re also not surprised if many would tap it as their favorite device in its price range. So far, we’re impressed with its new offerings. On top of its appealing look, it has an innovative feature that is usually found on more expensive smartphones.

The Vivo V11 is now available in the Philippines, and is priced at Php19,999.
