To achieve growth in 2022, Infinix Philippines is betting on product and retail expansion. |
Infinix wants to provide more diversified value-for-money products this year, following last year's success in the cheap smartphone segment. Cooper Ma, Infinix Philippines' Country Manager, stated that the business will soon stake a local 5G market position. "5G is an intriguing technology that has the potential to transform many aspects of our life. However, it is still only available to a select few. We will unveil new smartphones that will democratize the 5G experience for more Filipinos as operators invest extensively in spreading connections across the country.
Following the debut of INBook X1, their first bet in the local laptop market, which became a top-selling item during 11.11 and 12.12 sales in 2021, Ma said they will expand their product selection. "In the same way that our smartphones have the greatest specifications for their price category, the INBook X1 laptop has the best specifications for its price range." We are excited to introduce successor models developed just for Filipinos with discerning taste in specs and design who are also frugal with their money."
According to global market analyst firm Canalys, Infinix's parent company Transsion Holdings saw a phenomenal 228 percent annual growth in Q4 2021, despite only investing in the Philippines in late 2020. International Data Corporation (IDC) also revealed that it shipped 2.47 million smartphones in the same period, topping the local smartphone market's 5.6 percent reduction from the previous year. It maintained its growth in Q1 2022, emerging as the top three and top five best-selling brands in Shopee's 2.2 sale for mobile and laptop categories, respectively.
Infinix earned a name for itself in growing areas like Africa, the Middle East, and South and Southeast Asia by selling smartphones with high-end specs at reasonable prices. It became well-known in the Philippines for its affordable gaming cellphones, which met the growing demand of 9 out of 10 Filipinos who play mobile games. According to We Are Social, the Philippines has the most significant percentage of video gamers globally, at 96.4 percent.
The HOT 10S and NOTE 10 Pro, both gaming devices built for entry and mid-range levels, respectively, were Infinix's best-selling smartphones in 2021. Last year, the company unveiled the ZERO X Pro, a flagship handset with a 108-megapixel camera and a 60x zoom lens often found in higher-end devices. Infinix improved the NOTE 10 Pro in January 2022 to include a more sophisticated MediaTek Helio G95 CPU and 256GB storage in response to popular demand.
With over a thousand partner dealers, over three thousand multi-brand shops, six concept shops, 116 concept kiosks, and official stores in virtual e-commerce platforms, Infinix has expanded its national reach through both offline and online channels.
