Year after year, Samsung's best-selling smartphones have been those in the A-series, and it is no brainer that the Korean manufacturing giant simply continues this lineage. The most recent one to arrive on the local shore is the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is the successor of the last year's Galaxy A53 5G. I specifically used the word successor because, on paper, there is little of an upgrade. In fact, if the spec sheet will be the basis of comparison, the only upgrade there is the chipset used - Exynos 1380 vs. Exynos 1280. Some of the specs are the same, while the rest, the older A53 5G, has the upper hand.
The Galaxy A54 5G has a 6.4-inch display, 0.1-inch smaller than its predecessor. Both devices have 120Hz Super AMOLED display with Full HD resolution topped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. Both the A54 and A53 are aIP67 dust and water-resistant.

Camera-wise, the latest A-series handset comes with a triple system on its back composed of primary 50MP f/1.8 PDAF OIS, 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and 5MP f/2.4 for macro. That is one module less than the quad-cam setup of the older model, the 5MP f/2.4 for depth sensing is nowhere to be found, not to mention the main resolution is lower than the 64MP of the A53. Thankfully, the selfie camera offers a similar, if not the same, 32MP front snapper.
Other notable features are 5G connectivity, an optical under-display fingerprint sensor, and a 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging support. All of these are again similar, if not the same, with the older model.
Pricing and Availability
The Galaxy A54 5G starts at Php24,990 for the 128GB version and Php26,990 for the 256GB variant. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G, whose asking prices are lower than its predecessor, the A54 5G prices are slightly more expensive than the A53 5G, which has SRP of Php23,490 and Php25,490, respectively.
It is available in three fantastic colors: Amazing Lime, Awesome Graphite, and Awesome Violet, which is only available online. Customers who pre-order until March 30 can save Php2,949, which includes a FREE Travel Adaptor and a FREE Storage Upgrade. They will immediately obtain the higher memory variation for the price of the lesser variety within the identical model lineup. Those who exchange their old equipment can also save up to Php10,150.
